Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate 2.31a — Mac version
If you've wrestled an old Intel Mac into running Windows via Boot Camp just to play a decent game, the idea of a native Apple Silicon port feels like a breath of fresh air. CD PROJEKT RED have brought the whole sprawling mess of Night City across, complete with the Dogtown spy storyline.
What it needs to run
You need an Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 15.5 or later, and at least 16 GB of unified memory. It's a chunky install, and performance will lean heavily on your chip's GPU cores. Lower-spec machines will need dialled-back settings.
How it plays
It's a first-person RPG where you build V's reputation through main jobs, side gigs, and plain old street-level opportunism. You can spec into netrunning, brute-force chrome, or a silenced pistol build—the cybernetic implants let you mix things up. Johnny Silverhand, voiced by Keanu Reeves, acts as a digital ghost in your head, chipping in with commentary and the occasional bad idea.
16 GB memory holds up, but swap gets a workout
The most common worry is whether a machine with 16 GB of memory really cuts it. It does, but the game will lean on swap more than anyone would like. If you can close browsers and background apps before playing, the experience tightens up noticeably. Another question is about save files — GOG, Steam and Epic each handle cloud saves differently, so if you switch storefronts, don't expect progress to follow. Some players also ask about mods. The Mac version doesn't support the full Windows modding toolkit, but many simple texture and quality-of-life mods work if you drop them into the right folder inside the app package.
System language and voiceover pick up on their own
macOS features integrate in small but handy ways. The game picks up your system language automatically from the seventeen supported, and voiceover languages switch independently. Game Mode in macOS 15.5 gives it priority for CPU and GPU time, so you get fewer stutters if a Time Machine backup kicks in. It respects Focus modes too — turn on a gaming Focus, and notifications won't pop over a firefight. The disk image install means it won't lock files behind System Integrity Protection the way some App Store versions might. If you use a DualSense or Xbox controller, the game switches prompts on the fly.
Death Stranding shares the silicon DNA, but swaps calm for chaos
Death Stranding: Director's Cut shares a lot of DNA — native Apple Silicon support, cinematic storytelling, a big-name actor in the lead. Death Stranding feels more meditative, all traversal and careful planning. Cyberpunk 2077 throws you into chaos and gives you more ways to fight back.
Resident Evil 4 is tighter and more linear. The shooting feels snappier, but you trade a whole city for a series of set-piece villages. Cyberpunk's side jobs and open-world wandering give it far more hours of play, though RE4's polish is hard to beat.
Baldur's Gate 3 scratches the deep RPG itch better — more dialogue branches, more party management. But it's turn-based and top-down. Cyberpunk keeps you in first-person, in the moment, with real-time combat that rewards twitch reflexes more than dice rolls. If you want story and character work, both deliver. If you want a city you can lose an evening just driving through, the cyberpunk 2077 ultimate edition torrent of side content makes Night City the clear winner.
One practical tip: after a long session, the Mac's memory pressure can stay high. A quick logout and login clears the slate better than quitting the app alone.

- Smoothed out the driving path so the car stops weaving.
- Traffic lights no longer stop an AutoDrive journey dead.
