Terms of use
I run FCBikeLibrary as a side project from my work at the community bike library in Leeds. These terms are the ground rules for using the site—short version first, then the details. They’re written in plain English because nobody should need a solicitor just to browse a software catalogue.
Quick summary
- The site is a volunteer-run catalogue of third-party software. I cannot guarantee that everything here is error-free or right for your machine, and I’m not liable if something goes wrong.
- Be decent in the comments. No abuse, no spam, no sharing other people’s private information, and don’t pretend to be someone you’re not.
- Accounts are for one real person, with a real email address. Keep your password to yourself.
- All software names and trademarks belong to their owners. The developers support their own apps, not me.
- Comments are moderated. I can refuse or remove one without debate.
- These terms may change. If they do, the updated version will be posted here.
No warranty and limitation of liability
I built this catalogue because I believe old Macs deserve a long, useful life—the same thinking we apply at the repair café. But I’m a volunteer, not a software company. The programs listed here come from their original developers and publishers. I do my best to keep the information accurate, but I cannot promise that every entry is complete, current, or safe for your particular setup.
You download and use any software from a linked developer site entirely at your own risk. FCBikeLibrary and I, Sam Okafor, are not responsible for any damage, data loss, or other trouble that might result. If a program doesn’t work as you hoped, or if it causes a problem on your Mac, I cannot offer compensation or technical support. Think of this site as a well-organised noticeboard: I point you to the tools, but you decide whether to pick them up.
Contact about these terms
If something here isn’t clear, or if you have a concern about the terms, you can reach me at [email protected]. I read every message, though I can’t always reply straight away—the bike library keeps me busy, too.
Accounts
A free account lets you save favourites, get on-site notifications when a saved program is updated, and leave comments. You don’t need an account to browse the catalogue.
When you sign up, use a real email address that belongs to you. One account per person, please—no shared logins. Keep your password private. If you think someone else has got into your account, email me and I’ll help sort it out.
Third-party software and links
All 636 programs, plugins, and games in the catalogue are created and owned by their respective developers. Their names, logos, and branding remain the property of those owners. Listing an app here is not an endorsement, nor does it imply any partnership. If you need help with an application—how to install it, a bug report, a refund—you’ll need to contact the developer directly. I don’t provide support for third-party software.
When you click through to a developer’s website, you’re leaving FCBikeLibrary. I have no control over those external pages and can’t vouch for what you’ll find there.
Comments and moderation
Every comment is read by me before it appears on the site. When you post one, you’ll see it marked as “awaiting moderation” until I’ve had a chance to check it. I aim to approve genuine comments quickly, but this is a one-person operation and delays happen.
I reserve the right to decline or remove any comment without entering into a discussion about it. That’s not because I dislike disagreement—it’s because I haven’t the time to negotiate every moderation decision. If a comment vanishes, that’s the end of it.
Comment rules
By posting a comment, you agree to these rules:
- No abuse. Don’t attack, threaten, or harass other people. Constructive criticism of software is fine; cruelty toward humans isn’t.
- No private data. Don’t share someone else’s phone number, home address, email address, or other personal details—even your own, frankly. Keep that stuff out of public view.
- No spam or harmful links. Don’t post commercial pitches, repeated nonsense, or links that point to malware, phishing sites, or anything designed to cause damage.
- No impersonation. Be yourself. Don’t pretend to be a developer, another user, or anyone else.
Changes to these terms
From time to time I may update this page. When I do, the new version replaces the old one and takes effect straight away. If you keep using the site after a change, that counts as accepting the updated terms. I won’t send out individual notifications—this page is the single source of truth, so check back if you want to stay current.
Thanks for reading. I hope the catalogue helps you keep your Mac useful for years to come.
