FCBikeLibrary Keep your Mac useful

Privacy notice

This page sets out how FCBikeLibrary handles your information. I keep things straightforward — the site doesn’t do anything sneaky, and I’ll never sell your data or let advertisers track you around the web. If something here changes, I’ll post an updated version and note the date at the bottom.

Cookies

If you’re just browsing without an account, the site sets no cookies at all. When you sign in, two small cookies land in your browser. One is a session cookie so the site knows you’re logged in as you move between pages; it disappears when you close your browser. The other is a sign-in marker that lets you stay signed in for a while so you don’t have to log in again every visit. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, full stop.

Comments

Every comment is read by a real person — me — before it appears publicly. While it waits, the author sees their own comment with an “awaiting moderation” note. During moderation I can see the comment text, the display name on your account, the email address linked to that account, and the programme page it was left on. I use that information only to spot spam and keep discussions helpful. Once approved, the comment shows your display name (not your email) to anyone reading the page.

Your account

When you create a free account, the site stores:

I don’t send marketing emails or newsletters. Notifications about programme updates appear on the site itself.

Deleting your information

If you’d like your account and all your comments removed, just write to [email protected]. I’ll take care of it. I aim to keep this as simple as asking someone to clear out a locker.

Children

This is a catalogue of software for older Macs, built and run by one person. It’s not designed for young children. If you’re under 13, please don’t create an account. If I learn an account belongs to someone under 13, I’ll delete it.

Server logs

Like most websites, the server keeps ordinary logs. These record your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. I use them to spot problems and keep the site secure — for example, tracking down endless requests from a misbehaving bot. They aren’t used to profile visitors or build browsing histories.

What the site never does

FCBikeLibrary doesn’t sell, rent, or trade anyone’s information. There are no third-party advertising trackers, no analytics scripts phoning home to big tech firms, and no hidden pixels. It’s just a static-minded catalogue, and that’s how it’ll stay.

Changes

If I need to update this notice — because the site grows a new feature, or I find a clearer way to explain things — I’ll publish the revised version here. Major changes will get a short note on the site itself.
