HITMAN 1.13.2 — Mac version
Players who like to plan the perfect kill, then vanish without a trace, get on well with this one. It drops you into the shoes of Agent 47, the best hitman in the world, and sets you loose in locations across the globe. Feral Interactive brought the complete first season to Mac back in March 2016, with a Steam release following in June 2017. The current build, version 1.13.2, holds up nicely on Apple Silicon.
A Paris fashion show, fibre wire and a clockwork sandbox
Each mission is a clockwork sandbox. You get a target, a starting disguise and a sprawling public space packed with guards, civilians and moving parts. The joy is in the options. Fibre wire in a crowded Paris fashion show. A chandelier drop during a Milan lab tour. Poison slipped into a Bangkok hotel meal. The game never pushes you towards one method. You read the room, grab a disguise, and make your own luck.
Modes and replay value
Beyond the main story, Escalation contracts twist the rules with new complications, and Elusive Targets appear once with no second chance. Community-created contracts let you mark your own hits and share them. There is a lot here for a patient player, and the macOS port from Feral is solid. If your machine runs Intel Iris Graphics 540 or newer, you will need macOS 10.13.4 at minimum.
Clearing a Bangkok hotel room, start to finish
Take the "Club 27" mission. You begin outside the Himmapan hotel with a brief: two targets, one a fading rock star, the other his lawyer. The front door is too hot, so you drift left towards the kitchen loading bay. A hotel staff uniform hangs on a crate — pull it on and walk straight past the cooks. Nobody blinks.
Upstairs, the band's suite is sealed. A guard patrols the corridor in a loop. Wait behind a palm, count his footsteps, slip behind him and turn the handle. Inside, the lawyer is alone on the balcony. A quick fibre wire and he is in a trunk before his coffee cools. One down. The rock star is recording in the studio across the hall. You could poison the sushi, rig a microphone stand, or — simplest of all — wait for the engineer to step out and clear the room in 40 seconds flat. Walk out through the lobby in a bellhop coat. No shots fired. No witnesses. Three disguises, zero alarms.
Feral's Apple Silicon fix that smoothed the Paris crowds
Feral's later updates for version 1.13.2 tightened the Mac-specific performance rather than adding new missions. Loading times on Apple Silicon dropped noticeably, and the stutter some Intel Macs saw during busy Paris crowds is largely gone. The settings panel gained a resolution scale slider — handy if you want to nudge the frame rate up on an older machine without dropping to a blurry full-screen resolution. Japanese, Polish and Russian text support arrived in earlier patches but are baked into this build, so the subtitle picker covers ten languages. The real work was under the hood, though. Metal rendering smoothed out long-range sightlines — useful when you are lining up a sniper shot in Marrakesh — and Feral quietly fixed a crash tied to alt-tabbing during loading screens. If you once grabbed a hitman mac torrent to test the waters, this version is the one that actually feels at home on a Mac.
- macOS 10.13.4 or later (required for Intel Iris Graphics 540, 550, 640 and 650)
- Intel or Apple Silicon Mac
