You drop anchor at a blighted islet, sword and pistol at the ready, as your crew calls out depth soundings from the deck of the Witchslayer's Revenge.

Setting — The Shadow Sea, a flooded world dotted with islands and ruins, a thousand years after Oceanhorn 2.

Story — You ship out with Em, a techno-pirate, and her crew on a hunt for Titans stirred from the deep.

Combat — An all-new tactical system that mixes blade strikes, pistol shots and quick thinking; not just button mashing.

Viewpoints — A first-person mode lets you peer from the crow’s nest or squint into a cave entrance for a closer look.

Apple Arcade — An exclusive that plays on Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro, with saves that follow you across kit.

Languages — Menus and speech are in English, plus Russian, German, Arabic, Spanish, Italian, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Finnish, French and Japanese.

Save sync fix between Mac and iPad

Version 2.1.0 landed with a handful of fixes that make everyday play smoother. The most noticeable one is how the game handles save sync when you hop between a Mac and an iPad — fewer hangs on the loading screen, and Em’s crew no longer spawns halfway through a rock face if you last saved mid-voyage.

First-person mode got a quiet polish too. Before 2.1.0, peering over the gunwale of the Witchslayer's Revenge while docked sometimes flickered between the ship deck and open water. That glitch is gone. If you use first-person to scout Titan weak spots, you'll find the camera less twitchy during slow pans.

The Stream of Creation skill tree also had a bug where two nodes near the middle of the tree wouldn't register unlocks on Mac if you'd already claimed them on an iPhone. That's sorted now — the tree reads your progress properly across devices.

Poking around the wreck site tutorial island

Don't rush the opening. The Red Town Explorer starts with a basic blade and a rusty pistol, and the first island is really a tutorial dressed up as a wreck site. Spend a while there poking into crates and talking to every crew member twice — some side adventures won't appear on the map until you've exhausted the dialogue.

Switch into first-person mode early, even when you don't need it. It's the quickest way to spot crafting materials tucked behind fallen pillars or half-buried in sand. The standard third-person camera rides a bit high to catch them.

Pick two nodes on the combat branch of the skill tree and commit to them before spreading out. The tactical combat system punishes dabblers — a half-filled node does nothing. Blade counter and pistol quick-draw are a solid pair for the first Titan fight.

App won't launch from disk image

Game won't launch after copying to Applications. This sometimes happens if the disk image wasn't ejected before you tried to open the app. Drag the disk image to the Trash, then launch Oceanhorn 3 from Launchpad or the Applications folder directly. If the icon bounces and quits, restart your Mac — the game's ARM and x86 binaries occasionally trip over cached shader files from a previous version.

Controls feel sluggish in combat. The tactical system reads input differently from older Oceanhorn games. If your parry timing feels off, check whether macOS reduced the polling rate on your controller or mouse — Bluetooth controllers on older Macs sometimes drop to a lower rate when the battery dips below twenty per cent.

Side adventure markers vanish from the map. This isn't a bug. Some side adventures only show while you're aboard the Witchslayer's Revenge and sailing within range. If you've docked and the marker disappears, shove off again and check the chart table. The adventure will reappear once you're back on open water.

Questions from the bench

Is Oceanhorn 3 on Mac part of a series?

Yes, it is the third main Oceanhorn game from Cornfox & Bros, set a thousand years after the second.

Can I carry on my game between an iPad and a Mac?

Yes, because it is an Apple Arcade exclusive, your progress syncs across Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro.
