Thief: Master Thief Edition 1.1 — Mac version
A guard’s torch sweeps across the cobbles while you hold your breath inside a gothic archway. That’s The City for you — a place of dark alleys, rooftop routes and hidden vaults.
Master Thief Edition — the base game plus The Bank Heist mission, The Forsaken challenge map, and three booster packs: Opportunist, Predator and Ghost.
Bonus materials — digital art book, soundtrack and comic book, all included in the package.
Stealth toolkit — creep through shadows, pick locks, lift purses and slip past guards who notice open doors and snuffed-out candles.
Intel Mac only — this is a 64-bit x86 build. Always use a mouse; trackpad aiming fights against you in tight moments.
Lock picking takes a light touch on the keyboard — jab too hard and you’ll snap a pick. Sound plays fair: footsteps on gravel travel further than on stone.
Stable after the 1.1 fix on Intel Macs
Does the 1.1 fix version run without crashes? Yes. The fix smoothed out the worst launch-day problems — missing textures, random desktop dumps. On an Intel Mac with enough RAM you'll get a stable session. I've seen it chug briefly when The City loads a new district, but nothing that kicks you to the Finder.
Is the Master Thief Edition the full game? It is. You get the whole campaign, plus The Bank Heist mission, The Forsaken challenge map, and all three booster packs. Nothing locked away. Some folk hunt down thief master thief edition mac full version because they want the extras bundled in one place — this is that bundle.
Do I need to be online? No phone-home nonsense. No activation. Unpack it, point it at the ThiefData folder and you're in.
Will it feel sluggish on older Intel hardware? Depends how old. A 2015 MacBook Pro with integrated graphics will run it, but you'll want to dial shadows and texture quality back to medium. Dedicated graphics make a real difference in the rain-soaked market district.
How it feels day-to-day
Load times sit around fifteen seconds off a spinning drive, half that from an SSD. Once you're inside a mission, the engine keeps a steady rhythm — no stutter when you mantle a ledge or slide through a window. The City's ambient hum stays smooth because the audio doesn't glitch when guards shift alert states, which was a known headache in earlier builds.
Memory use hovers near three gigabytes during play. That leaves breathing room on machines with eight gigs, provided you close the browser first. The fan on a MacBook will spin up during rooftop chases, but nothing like the jet-engine roar some later ports provoke.
One practical tip: lock the frame rate to 60 via the in-game settings panel. Leaving it uncapped makes the GPU work harder than it needs to, especially during torch-lit interior scenes. The game doesn't benefit from racing past sixty, and your machine runs cooler.

Questions from the bench
How do I switch the game to English?
Go to OPTIONS > AUDIO > TEXT LANGUAGE inside the game and pick from the eight available languages for text and voice.
What bonus missions come with the Master Thief Edition?
You get The Bank Heist mission and The Forsaken challenge map alongside the base campaign.
Does this run on Apple Silicon Macs?
It’s an Intel 64-bit build, so it won’t run natively and relies on Apple’s Rosetta 2 translation layer, which can be hit-and-miss with older titles.
