You boot up the game and Peppino Spaghetti tears across the screen, elbows out, smashing through rats and pizza golems like a chef possessed. That's the loop — raw speed, wall-runs and piledriving anything in the way before the timer runs out.

Getting the score you need

Each level is a sprint with a score-attack backbone. You chain moves, keep combos alive and grab secrets to push the rank up before the exit door slams shut.

Handling Gustavo's stages

Some sections swap Peppino for Gustavo, a slower bruiser who rides a giant rat. It changes the rhythm completely, giving you a heavy, crunchier feel for a few rooms.

Changing the tongue

It runs like a cartoon on a caffeine buzz

On Apple Silicon the game barely notices it's inside a wrapper. Levels snap open instantly and the 2D sprites fly past at a locked framerate, even when the screen fills with bouncing enemies and flying debris. I've played through a full floor without a single hitch or audio glitch — the soundtrack stays crisp and the controls never soften.

Memory use is modest. Activity Monitor shows it sipping less than a gigabyte, so you can leave a browser and a notes app open in the background without swapping. The fan on a Mac Mini stays silent through hour-long sessions. For a Wineskin port that's about as good as it gets.

P-ranking John Gutter from cold boot to victory lap

Getting a P-rank — perfect score, all secrets, no damage — is the real test, and John Gutter is the floor to learn it on. Here's a full run from launch to the results screen.

  1. Open the game and pick a save file. If you see a launch error, click OK a few times and the window settles.
  2. Start John Gutter from the hub. The moment the door opens, hold right and grab the first pepper grinder enemy with a shoulder bash to start the combo.
  3. Keep the combo alive through the first corridor. Wall-run across the gap instead of jumping — it's faster and it chains into a downward slam on the rats below.
  4. Grab the first secret. Behind the fake wall near the cheese blocks there's a hidden room. Slide in, collect the topping and dash back out without breaking stride.
  5. Clear the mushroom pit without stopping. A super jump off the edge carries you over three enemies at once. Land on the far side with a ground pound and the combo counter stays gold.
  6. Trigger the escape sequence. Hit the pillar at the end and turn back immediately. The route reverses with added obstacles — stay high, use the ceiling run where possible and ignore the panicked rats.
  7. Hit the exit door before the timer drains. If you kept the combo unbroken and snagged both secrets, the rank screen shows a P.

The whole run takes under two minutes once you know the layout. Practising John Gutter like this teaches you the movement rhythm for the tougher floors above, where the Pizza Tower crack Mac crowd push the leaderboard times into absurd territory. Start here and the rest clicks into place.

The whole game switches to Russian or English from the settings menu. All the manic energy translates just fine either way.

Questions from the bench

Can I play as anyone other than Peppino?

Yes, Gustavo becomes playable during specific sections, bringing a slower, heavier fighting style.

What languages does the game support?

You can switch the interface between English and Russian in the game's own settings.
