Most sims fence you in with grids and sliders that stop too soon. Paralives steps back and lets you build a home that feels hand-drawn, then live in it without a rulebook. Every minute is a small creative choice.

  • Pull a curved wall. The build mode ditches the grid. Drag walls, resize rooms, stack split-level floors, and make a home that isn't just a box.
  • Set a character’s height. The editor goes beyond face and fashion. You pick build, posture, and how someone carries themselves in the world.
  • Manage an open-world day. Send your Para to the park, let them potter at home, or just watch what they get up to while you tweak the furniture.
  • Break the game gently. Community mods are built in from the start. Someone out there has probably already made the sofa you want.
  • Live with the consequences. Relationships and jobs shift based on the small stuff—skipped meals, forgotten chats, a room that finally feels finished.

It’s an Early Access title from a small team, so rough edges show up now and then. But the bones are good, and the hotfixes keep coming. If you like a sim that treats you like a co-creator, this one clicks early.

Switch to Classic camera to stop the queasy view

Early Access means things wobble. Here are three you might bump into on a Mac.

Camera fights back. If the default view makes you queasy, switch to Classic camera mode. It was patched in at 0.1.8 and tucks the perspective closer to what old-school sim players expect.

Mods won't appear. You drop an FBX mesh into the right folder and nothing shows. Clean out any mods you added before patch 0.1.8b—the FBX bug was fixed in that hotfix, but old broken files can still confuse things. Stick to fresh downloads from the Steam Workshop and you'll save yourself an afternoon of guessing.

Stuttering on a busy lot. The game is built for Apple Silicon, but a park full of Paras still hits the processor. Lower the draw distance a notch and keep the object count reasonable on lots you visit often. It's not a full fix, but it smooths the worst of it until the team optimises further.

Build curved rooms and resize objects freely

Builders who hate grids. If you sketch floor plans on napkins and then get annoyed when a sims game flattens your ideas into rectangles, this is your playground. Curved walls and resizable objects mean a room can actually look like the one in your head.

Mod tinkerers. The Steam Workshop integration isn't an afterthought. If you like tweaking, reshaping, or just downloading someone else's perfectly grubby café set, you'll settle in fast. The community already churns out houses, clothes, and little behaviour tweaks.

Slow-life players. Para's don't need constant drama. You can spend an hour adjusting a window seat, then follow someone to the beach and just watch. The open-world rhythm suits anyone who treats a sim less like a game and more like a quiet afternoon project.

Questions from the bench

Can I add my own furniture and clothes to Paralives?

Yes, the game supports user mods and community content. The latest hotfix even patched a bug with FBX mesh imports so you can keep creating.

Is Paralives an online game or single-player?

It's a single-player life sim set in an open-world neighbourhood, so you play offline at your own pace.

What stage of development is the game in right now?

Paralives launched in Early Access on 25 May 2026 and is still being actively worked on by the indie team.
