Resident Evil Village 1.1.2 — Mac version
What Macs can run it?
The game needs an Apple silicon Mac with macOS 12.0 or later. Intel machines are not supported. It is a native build that uses the Metal API.
What is the story setup?
You play as Ethan Winters, a few years after the events in Louisiana. Chris Redfield turns his life upside down, and Ethan ends up in a snowy village packed with new threats.
How does the game play?
It sticks to a first-person view. You explore the village, manage scarce resources, and face lycans and other creatures. The Mac version includes in-game achievements.
Which languages are included?
The interface and subtitles come in thirteen languages. English, Russian, German, French, Japanese, Arabic, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Thai, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese are all in the box.
Turn on the frame rate counter for your first session
The game runs well on Apple Silicon, but it helps to get a few things right early on. Turn the in-game frame rate counter on for your first session so you can see how your machine copes with different scenes. The village centre hits the GPU harder than the castle interiors, so dial in your settings there rather than in a quiet corridor.
Hold off cranking the resolution straight away. The MetalFX upscaling options do heavy lifting — experiment with Performance mode first, then edge towards Quality if frames hold steady. You lose less visual sharpness than you might expect, and the game stays responsive when lycans rush you from three directions at once.
Save scumming is rare in this series, but Village gives you auto-saves and manual typewriters. Use them. Before you spend Lei on a weapon upgrade you are not sure about, drop a manual save so you can roll back if the shotgun spread turns out worse than you hoped. It is not cheating, it is just not wasting your time.
One quirk worth knowing: if you launch the game while still connected to the internet and get a black screen that hangs, force quit and relaunch with Wi‑Fi off. Once you are past the title screen you can turn it back on. It does not happen every time, but the 1.1.2 fix build still trips on this for some people.
Workflow: clearing the first lycan stronghold
When you reach the stronghold early on, the game shifts from creeping dread to a messy, loud siege. The goal is simple: survive the gauntlet and take out the big one at the end. How you prepare changes everything.
You'll need:
- A shotgun with at least one reload speed upgrade
- Two pipe bombs or a mine
- First aid med — one, tucked in a shortcut slot
- A clear path back to the door you came through
- Before you pull the lever that kicks things off, open the door behind you so you have a fallback route. Sounds small, but when the room floods with enemies you will not have a spare second to fuss with a door handle.
- Place a mine on the narrow stairs to your left. Lycans love that funnel point. Let the first wave trigger it while you thin the pack with the shotgun from the top of the room.
- When the armoured lycan drops in, switch to the pipe bombs. One direct hit strips his armour; the second finishes him or leaves him open for a few shotgun shells. Do not get greedy — the regular lycans are still spawning.
- If you take a hit, fall back through the open door, heal, and let them funnel through the doorway one at a time. The AI loses some of its swarm advantage in tight chokepoints.
- Once the armoured enemy is down, the remaining lycans thin out fast. Sweep the room for Lei and crafting materials before you push on.
On an M1 machine, this fight can dip into the low 40s if you are running native resolution with high textures. Dropping texture quality by one notch often buys you a stable 60 without making the stonework look flat. The difference is barely visible on a 13-inch screen.
DualSense and Xbox controllers swap button prompts automatically
The game plays nicely with Apple's controller framework. A DualSense or Xbox controller connects over Bluetooth and the button prompts swap over automatically — no fiddling in a settings file. If you have a controller plugged in when you launch, the keyboard prompts disappear, so decide which input you are using before you load a save.
Spotlight comments can be useful here. Tag the game's save folder with a quick note about what run you are on — “first playthrough hardcore” — and you will find it fast if you ever need to back it up before a macOS update. The Mac App Store version stores saves inside the container, so a quick Finder search for the game's name leads you right there.
Do not sleep on the game's cross-save potential. If you also game on an iPad with the same Apple ID, your progress can move between the two. It is not a separate feature you enable; it just works when iCloud is signed in. Start a section on your Mac, pick it up later on the sofa with the iPad. The Mac handles the bigger set-pieces better, but for inventory management and treasure hunting the touch screen is surprisingly practical.
For those hunting down a resident evil village torrent or searching resident evil village torrent download, the Mac build that is going around works well on M-series chips and includes all the DLC. The same applies if you stumble on a resident evil 8 torrent — the data is identical to the App Store version, just without the sandboxing. Some older uploads tagged resident evil 7 mac torrent or resident evil mac free are Intel-only and will refuse to launch on Apple Silicon, so check the architecture before you spend bandwidth.
- macOS 12.0 or newer
- Apple Silicon chip (M1 or later)
Questions from the bench
Does it follow on from Resident Evil 7?
Yes, you control Ethan Winters again and the plot picks up his story after the Baker house incident, though the setting and enemies are almost entirely new.
