Shadow of the Tomb Raider 1.0.4 — Mac version
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the final chapter in Lara Croft's origin story, where she pushes herself to the limit to become the tomb raider she's meant to be.
Scrambling through a hidden city with a bow
Minute to minute, you're scrambling through hostile jungle undergrowth, picking off mercenaries with a bow, and solving ancient puzzles carved into crumbling temples. The game gives you the largest central location the series has ever seen — a hidden city packed with side quests and people to talk to. You strike from treetops, disappear into vine-covered walls, and coat yourself in mud to break line of sight. Then you go deep underwater, holding your breath through flooded crypts where piranhas dart past and air pockets are a precious find.
Voice languages from Italian to Arabic
For an Intel Mac with decent graphics memory, the port holds up. Italian, German, Portuguese, Polish and Arabic are among the voice languages, so you can play it in your own tongue — English and French sit in the interface menus alongside Russian, Korean, Spanish and Simplified Chinese. The tombs are the star of the show: deadly, quiet, and built to make you stop and think. Between them, the jungle itself becomes a hunting ground where you set the pace.
Little things that save you time
Lara auto-grabs ledges by default, but you can turn that off in the gameplay menu if you prefer the older manual feel. While climbing, hold E to rappel down a cliff face fast instead of hopping ledge by ledge — easy to miss because the prompt only flashes for a second. The photo mode shortcut (F3 on most keyboards) freezes the action mid-swing, and you can tweak depth of field or slap a sepia filter on before the screenshot lands in your Pictures folder.
If you're short on crafting resources, send out a merchant search from any base camp. It marks herb and hide caches on the map without you having to comb every inch of jungle. And when a puzzle has you stumped, Lara's journal fills in sketches after you've been stuck long enough — no need to pause and dig through menus. The hint is just there, sketched in the corner of the screen.
40 GB on an external SSD, not your internal drive
Because the package needs 40 GB, I keep it on an external SSD rather than the internal drive of an older MacBook. macOS treats it like any other drag-and-drop app — once it's in the Applications folder, Spotlight finds it, and you can pin it to the Dock. The save files live in your local ~/Library/Application Support folder, so Time Machine grabs them during a regular backup without you lifting a finger.
If you're hunting down Shadow of the Tomb Raider Mac torrent and end up with a dodgy wrapper, no worries — just grab a clean drag-and-drop install from a mounted image to keep the app bundle intact, and the load file inside the package is there for machines that stall on first launch. The game plays nicely with Mission Control too — swipe to a different desktop, and it quietly pauses in the background rather than chewing through battery while you check a walkthrough in Safari.
- The package is marked as fixed.
- macOS 10.15 or later
- Intel processor, 2 GHz
- 8 GB RAM
- 1.5 GB graphics memory
- 40 GB free disk space
