Goodbye Greenscreen 2 2.3.45 — Mac version
Running the Auto Color Key
Most jobs start the same way: you have a perfectly lit talking-head shot and a background that is more grey than green. The Auto Color Key doesn't fuss about uneven screens. You apply it to your clip, and the AI gets on with spotting which bits are person and which bits are set. It builds a matte without you drawing a single roto shape.
Cleaning the edges
Next is the Clean Matte step. The plugin combines your video and the cut-out scene into one view. You can see straight away if the hair detail has survived. A few clicks in the refine controls usually sorts any spill or hard edges. The work stays inside After Effects or Premiere Pro, so you can drop your new background onto the track below and judge the comp in context.
Finishing on the timeline
Once the matte holds up across a few frames of movement, I tend to bake it. The processing happens entirely on your Mac, so there is no upload wait. For compositing jobs where the green screen was an afterthought, it does the heavy lifting and leaves you with a tidy set of tracks to mix with.
Switch to full-body detection for moving shots
Out of the box, Goodbye Greenscreen 2 defaults to its portrait matting model. That is spot-on for talking-head edits, but if your shot is a dancer or someone moving through frame, switch the detection to full-body before you do anything else. The matte pulls cleaner limbs and you do not spend ten minutes patching up missing elbows.
One more thing: head into the plugin preferences and check CUDA Memory Sharing is ticked if your Mac has a decent GPU. The difference on 4K-plus timelines is properly noticeable — renders that used to crawl just get on with it.
A wedding videographer's quick save
A wedding editor I know had a ceremony clip where the venue's green backdrop was creased to bits, with one corner falling into shadow. No amount of tweaking the old keyer would pull a clean veil. She dropped Goodbye Greenscreen 2 onto the clip, flipped it to full-body mode, and let the AI colour key do its work. The veil came through without disappearing into the background. Five minutes later the couple were floating over a soft cream backdrop instead of a wrinkled screen, and nobody watching would guess the original shot was a near write-off. That kind of fix, running locally with no uploads, is what makes the goodbye greenscreen 2 mac full version proper useful on real-world timelines where you do not get a do-over.
