Lies of P is a soulslike action game that drags the Pinocchio story into the blood-soaked streets of Krat, a city devoured by madness and violence.

A puppet, a plague, and a city that wants you dead

You play as the puppet Geppetto built, fighting through a city where everything wants you dead. The combat is deliberate and punishing — block, dodge, or parry badly and you will not last long. Your Legion Arm gives you a mechanical edge in fights, swapping between gadgets that can yank enemies closer, lay down mines, or spray flame across a crowd. It is the sort of tool that rewards fiddling about to find what works against each horror Krat throws at you.

The world you are walking into

Krat itself is the real star. Once a grand Belle Époque city, it is now a wreck of overturned trams, shattered shop windows, and puppets who have stopped playing nice. The story is a proper dark reworking of the fairy tale — less cricket, more corpses. The full game with all its modes sits in one package, and it plays in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Polish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

Linear streets and tighter pacing than Elden Ring

If you have played Elden Ring, Lies of P feels much tighter. The levels are more linear, closer to Dark Souls 3 or Bloodborne in pacing, without the open-world wandering. That is not a knock — it means less time lost and more time learning boss patterns.

Compared with Sekiro, Lies of P is more forgiving about how you build your character. You can lean on dodging early, then shift to a parry-heavy style once the timing clicks. The weapon mix-and-match system gives you more say than Sekiro's fixed kit, and the lying-or-truth choices add a layer those games mostly skip.

Against another Mac-friendly soulslike like Hollow Knight, the difference is obvious: Lies of P is full 3D, heavier on spectacle, and far more demanding on your hardware. If your Mac fan is loud during Hollow Knight, expect it to sing here.

First days in Krat

A few things worth doing before you get too deep:

  • Spend your first Ergo on Vitality and Capacity. Early weapons matter less than not dying to a stiff breeze.
  • Stick with one weapon handle you like, and swap blades onto it. You keep the moveset, not the blade.
  • Use the Legion Arm early, even badly. It refills, and learning the timing now saves pain later.
  • If the camera fights you in narrow streets, lock off and let the enemy come to you. Krat's alleys are not your friend.

Some players grab a Lies of P Mac M1-friendly settings guide before starting, but the defaults on Apple Silicon have been solid on recent builds. Turn motion blur down if your eyes tire — the streets already blur enough on their own.

Questions from the bench

Does Lies of P run on a Mac with an M1 chip?

Yes. The game needs an Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 13 Ventura or newer, 8 GB of RAM, and 50 GB of free space. It runs on M1, M2, M3, and M4 machines.
